A very early issue from a 1570 edition, the year of the first appearance of Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, the first modern atlas. Three editions of this landmark atlas appeared in its first year of publication, this example being from the third of these. The three maps on a single sheet here each depict important parts of the classical world--Asia Minor (western Turkey), Egypt, and Carthage (Tunis)--but here shown with then up-to-date cartography.
