(PUBLISHER)  [Hartford, 1847]  Connecticut from the actual Surveys of Warren & Gillet With addition of new towns turnpike roads &C by George Gillet Esqr. 17 5/8 x 21 ¾ inches.  Lithograph with original hand color, refreshed; expertly conserved & re-backed with new linen but with original wooden rollers, closed split bottom center into Long Island Sound, overall very good of this type.                                                                                      

An attractive example of the final edition of the definitive map of Connecticut of the first half of the 19^th century, based on the great Warren-Gillet map published in 1812.  Although the map was re-published several times--in 1820, 1829, 1833 and 1842--it maintained its relevance by adding fresh information.  This edition, for example, added the recently incorporated towns of Rocky Hill, Naugatuck, Easton and South Windsor as well as recent railroad lines, canals and turnpikes. Other details include town and county lines, topography, lakes, rivers, streams, and some notable locations.
